A.M.P-Rose 42B-FC Stick-Pack Machine

The A.M.P Rose '42B-FC' is a machine that cuts and individually fold-wraps pieces of fruit chew, hard candy, toffee or bubble gum fed in rope form either from an extruder or batch roller/sizer. The machine automatically counts and collates the fold-wrapped pieces and transfers the desired number into the infeed of a flow-wrapping machine. The flow-wrap machine then overwraps the products to make a 'stick-pack, as shown below'.

Sequence of Operations

The rope of candy is fed into the cut and wrap machine, usually a 'Super 42HSF' or a '750F' machine. The rope is sized by two or three pairs of sizing rollers to the desired width and thickness. The rope is then cut to the required length by a pair of guillotine-type knives and pushed into the wrapping wheel along with the cut wrapper, which has been fed from the paper feeding system.

The cut piece is then fold wrapped in either end or turned-under fold style, depending on the Customer's requirements.

The fold wrapped pieces are taken from the discharge of the cut and wrap machine by a toothed belt and counted to give the correct number of pieces for the pack. The pack is transferred into the infeed lug of the flow-wrapping machine where the outer wrapping is completed. A photocell system is provided on the flow-wrap machine so that printed wrappers may be used.

Wrapping materials (individual pieces)

Waxed paper or moistureproof heat-sealing flexible cellulose films, with an understrip, if used, of tissue-backed aluminium foil.  If the wrap is unsealed, the main wrapper may be of tissue-backed aluminium foil, with an understrip, if used, of waxed paper.

Reel sizes: Standard core diameter 57mm and 77mm. Other core diameters are available specially.  Maximum reel diameter 335mm.

Wrapping materials (outer wrapper)

Heat sealable cellulose films, Polypropylene laminates, various heat and cold seal materials.

Major Advantages

This type of cut and wrap stick-pack machine has considerable advantages over the traditional fold-wrap machine; for example:

  • Greater flexibility in terms of product size changes (number of pieces per pack). This can be achieved quickly and cost-effectively.

  • By using a totally inline system, product handling is smooth and easily controlled.

  • Better product protection and shelf-life are achieved by using the fin-seal principle with high intensity seals.

Style of Wrap (individual pieces)

Either single point end fold or turned under fold, as shown below

Style of Wrap (Stick)

Pillow pack with crimped end seals and longitudinal fin seal laid flat against the product base.  The end seals can be serrated for easy opening.

Product size limits (individual pieces)

Length: 16-50mm
Width : 11-25mm
Thickness : 5-17mm

Number of pieces/pack

Generally from 4 to 12 pieces, depending upon individual sweet sizes.

Options

Photo-electric cell registration for individual pieces
Heated candy feed for high boiled sugar.
Automatic splicing unit for splicing inner or outer wrappers.
