A.M.P-Rose 5IST/L Lollipop Cut and Wrap Machine

The 5IST/L is a special variation of the well-known A.M.P Rose 5IST Confectionery Wrapping Machine, which is adapted to the production of wrapped, rectangular-shaped lollipops. Toffee or other candy materials are received in the rope form (from a suitable horizontal batch roller or vertical batch feeder), sized shaped and cut-to-length; a hole is then made in one end of the formed piece, a stick is inserted and the finished lollipop wrapped.

Machine Size Limits
The machine can be supplied for one size of rectangular piece, within the following approximate size range:
Dimensions excluding stick:

Length (cut-off length): 35 to 95 mm
Width: 19 to 38 mm
Thickness: 8 to 16 mm

Extreme limits in two or three dimensions are not necessarily possible in combination. Because of the special nature of the 5IST/L machine, all sizes should be referred to A.M.P-Rose for approval.

Styles of Wrap (click to enlarge)

The machine can be built for either of the following styles of wrap:
Lollipop Twist Wrap  with fantail on stick (Style 71A) fantail twists are produced at both the sugar and stick ends of the lollipop. The longitudinal seam overlap is on the wide face of the lollipop.

Lollipop Sachet Wrap with fantail on stick (Style 73A) the wrapper is folded in the confectionery sachet style over the sugar end of the lollipop and a fantail twist is produced at the stick end.

Wrapping Materials
The wrapping material feed is suitable for either waxed paper or heat-sealing cellulose film as an outer, and tissue-backed aluminium foil or waxed paper as an understrip.

Standard reel sizes are :
57 mm (21/4") core diameter
457 mm (18") maximum outside diameter

Candy Feed
The plastic rope enters the machine through two pairs of vertically-arranged sizing rollers. These form the section of the piece, the measured length being cut-off by a pair of guillotine type knives.
The drive to the first pair of sizing rollers is continuous, but an intermittent drive is provided for the second pair, so as to permit a standing period for cutting.
After cutting off, the piece is transferred by pushers into the open-ended pocket of a feed disc.

Lollipop Stick Feed
The sticks are fed (by pusher) from a hopper.
Prior to insertion of the stick, a hole is made in the end of the formed piece, by a progger - the piece is held under the top control for both operations.

Wrapper Feed
Wrapping material is drawn from the reel (or reels), and the correct length is cut off between stationary and moving knives.

Wrapping Mechanism
After the stick is inserted, the lollipop is indexed to an elevator position. Here the lollipop is lifted through the cut wrapper into a wrapping wheel (mould wheel). Wrapping operations are completed while the lollipop is held in the wrapping wheel.

Discharge
The wrapped lollipops are discharged side-by-side on a continuously-moving belt conveyor, ready for packing.

Lubrication
An automatic oiling system covers nearly all the main moving parts on the machine. A few parts require independent greasing or oiling but these are readily accessibile.

Cut-Out Devices
Cut-out devices are fitted to stop the machine if either the inner or outer wrapper breaks, runs out or ruffles up at the pressure roller position, and to ensure that no wrapper is fed unless a lollipop is in a position to be wrapped.

Machine Output
In any particular case, the output depends on the type of product and style of wrap. However, as a general guide only, it is estimated that sizes up to about 57 mm long x 22 mm wide can be run at approximately 300 cycles per minute. Sizes beyond this, upto a maximum of 95 x 33 mm can be run approximately 150 cycles per minute. For actual running speeds for given lollipop sizes etc., please contact AMP-Rose.

Standard Motor
3kW

Standard Heater
One at 300 watts.

Water
A watercooler is provided following the heater station on the wrapping wheel (mould wheel) and requires connection to a mains and a drain by 13 mm internal diameter rubber hose.

Interchangeability
The 5IST/L is essentially a single-size machine, and change of size should not be contemplated unless it is of a long-term nature.

Optional Extras
Photo-electric Cell Registration Unit - to register the outer wrapper.

Approximate Shipping Specification

Nett weight: 2050 Kg
Gross weight: 2650 Kg
Case size: 215 x 200 x 220 cm

Feeding Machines
A.M.P Rose manufactures machines suitable for the production of a candy rope to be fed to the 5IST/L machine.
Either a BR42 Horizontal Batch Former, with an RS66/67 Rope Sizer, or a VBR Vertical Batch Feeder (incorporating appropriate sizing rollers) can be supplied.

Alternative A.M.P Rose Lollipop Forming and Wrapping Machine
A.M.P Rose 750/L Lollipop Forming and Wrapping Machine
The 750/L and 5IST/L machines both produce wrapped rectangular-shaped lollipops from plastic material fed in rope form.
On the 5IST/L machine, however, the style of wrap produced is one in which the wrapper is twisted around the stick whereas on the 750/L machine the stick is pushed through the wrapper (with no twist around the stick).
