The
'340' takes a rope of confectionery product and processes it into a
stick-pack. The machines have proved to be extremely successful and are in
operation world-wide. The latest versions of these machines incorporate many new
features.
The machine comprises two almost identical wrapping modules, (each based on the A.M.P
Rose '750') linked on a common base. The first cuts and wraps individual
pieces in end or under fold style. The second collates the required number of
pieces, then overwraps them to form a stick-pack, in an 'on edge' presentation.
Both wrapping operations and the unique collating mechanism are controlled by
one main drive unit providing a constantly synchronized system.
The '340' can be fed from an A.M.P Rose batch roller/sizer or an extruder
and is capable of handling toffee, caramel, high boiled sugar, fruit chews and
bubble gum.

The plastic rope enters the machine through two pairs of metering rollers
conforming to the section of the piece, the length being cut off by guillotine
type knives. The cut piece is pushed with the cut wrapper into the wrapping
wheel. The folds are initiated in the wrapping wheel and completed in the rake
discharge. The individually wrapped pieces are transferred through a collation
unit, which gathers them into groups of the required number of pieces per stick.
The groups are then cross-pushed with the outer wrapper into the second wrapping
wheel where the stick-pack tube is formed. Double point end folds are made by
ploughs and a rake discharge.
Wrapping materials
Individual pieces:
Waxed paper of OPP/paper laminate, or moisture proof heatsealing flexible
cellulose films with an understrip (if used) of tissue backed aluminium foil. If
the wrap is unsealed, the main wrapper may be of tissue backed aluminium foil
with an understrip (if used) of waxed paper.
Stick wrap
Heat sealing backed-foils, papers or cellulose films. Alternatively
paper/polyethylene/foil laminates may be used in conjunction with machine
applied hot melt wax.

Product size change
The machines have been designed with inherent flexibility. This allows the size
of the individual piece or the number of pieces in a stick pack, and the stick
pack size, to be changed at any time after initial supply of the machine. The
simplest adjustment is in changing the stick count, and involves adjustment of
the collator (or replacement with a spare pre-set unit) and fitting change parts
to the stick pack section of the machine. A change in individual piece size
would require additional size change parts for this section of the machine.
Machine speed
Individual pieces:
Up to 650 per minute.
Sticks
The speed is a calculation of the maximum output of the machine (650 individual
pieces/minute), divided by the number of pieces per pack. For example, a 4 piece
stick would give an output of 162 sticks per minute.

Heated Candy Feed for use with high boiled sugar.
