A.M.P-Rose Super 42CW Cut And Twist Wrap Machine (Whirl Type)

The Super 42CW is designed to size, shape, cut to length and twist-wrap confectionery products such as toffee, bubble gum and Salt Water Taffy, fed in rope form from a suitable Batch Roller/Rope Sizer or Extruder.  The machine produces principally round shaped sweets in 'whirl' ('kiss') style, which allows the design in the sugar rope to be visible through the wrapping material.  Further developed and improved by AMP Rose, the machine is now capable of speeds up to 800 pieces/minute.

Operation
The candy rope enters the machine horizontally through a pair of horizontally arranged sizing rollers and is turned through 90° into a pair of vertically arranged sizing rollers.  The pieces are cut-off by a specially developed knife and transferred to the pushin' position via an intermediary transfer wheel.
An automatic splicing unit gives a continuous supply of wrapping material to the wrapping position at all times.  The wrapping material is cut to length by a continuous rotary paper knife.  The cut wrapper and candy piece are simultaneously pushed into the wrapping wheel where the wrapping is completed.

Style of wrap
Fantail twists are formed on the periphery of the piece, as opposed to the cut faces on standard cut and wrap machines.  (See sketch below)

Wrapping materials
Twist wrapping grades of waxed paper, cellulose film and some PVC materials are suitable for use with this machine.

Standard reel sizes are:
57 or 77mm core diameter
355mm maximum outside diameter

Super 42CW machines can be supplied for sizes of rectangular or round pieces, within the following approximate range:

Note: sizes outside this range can be considered specially.

Discharge
The wrapped pieces are delivered down an inclined chute, which discharges in line with the candy infeed.

Interchangeability
The machine is essentially for pieces of one size only.  For a definite size change, a change of parts is necessary, but this should only be contemplated if the size change is of a long-term nature.

Output
Recommended maximum speed is 800 per minute.  An electrical speed control and speed indicator are provided.
